Letter to His Excellency Victor Yuschenko, President of Ukraine

Your Excellency,

It was with great joy that we received your invitation dated 21 January 2005, after your election by the beloved people of Ukraine, to attend your inauguration as the President of the Republic of Ukraine, which will take place on 23 January.

We once again congratulate you for your election to the Presidency of Ukraine and for assuming your immense responsibilities. May God strengthen and help you in successfully performing the functions of your office for the benefit of the Ukrainian people. We express our warm thanks for your honorable invitation to the ceremony but also our sorrow for not being able to attend due to a previously scheduled obligation.

Therefore, we wholeheartedly greet your beloved Excellency and we hope that we will have the opportunity to personally meet with you in the near future. We remain with deep love in Christ and every esteem.

22 January 2005
Your Excellency’s
fervent supplicant before God,

+Bartholomew of Constantinople
