Dometius was a brother of king Probus, and had two sons Probus and Metrophanes. He saw the deceit of the religion of the idols, and accepted to the Christian faith, and was baptised. Arriving to Byzantium, he found Titus Bishop of Byzantium, a holy and god-bearing man, who included him among the clergy of the Church. After the death of the Bishop, Dometius is made president, who is then succeded by Probus, his son.
