Maximos IV

1491-1497

Prior to his election, he had served as Metropolitan of Serrai under the name Manasses. His patriarchy caused many reactions among the Christians; and he was finally forced to resignation. He retired to the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos, in which he stayed the rest of his life and died.
