Successor of Pertinax, who shepherded the Bishopric of Byzantium for 11 years. During his service, in 196, Byzantium was conquered by the Roman Emperor Septimus Severus, who took the right of metropolis and made it part of the thracian Heracleia. Byzantium remained a bishopric under Heracleia for more than a century.
